a crap day

Peter: Let me ask you something.  When you come in on Monday and you're not feeling real well, does anyone ever say to you, "Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays?"
Lawrence: No. No, man. Shit, no, man.  I believe you'd get your ass kicked sayin' something like that, man.

I'm going to forewarn you: I'm acting like a whiney crying b today. I most definitely have a case of the Mondays. There's a long list of reasons but basically I'm just having a terrible day. One of those days where it's hard to be happy. I would normally write a list of reasons to be happy- but I can't really think of any. EXCEPT MARIA.

That's right. Frauline Maria and her band of midget singers. When I am sucked into a funk the soundtrack from the The Sound of Music is one of the few things that can pull me out a little.

So, danke schon Maria! Danke schon!

These are a few of my favorite things...

When the dog bites... when the bees sting.... when I'm feeling sad... I simply remember my favorite things and then I don't feel so bad.

Is anything brightening your day that I'm missing?

A Few of My Embarrassing Things...

... I cry when I watch Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. every.single.time.

... I love coloring. Seriously, when I taught preschool I used to color with the kids all the time.

... I am a TERRIBLE clapper. My sorority sisters can verify the fact that finding the beat is just impossible for me.

... On a semi-regular basis I blast the soundtrack from The Sound Of Music and sing and dance along.

... When I cook alone I like to pretend that I am the host of a cooking show and day dream about writing a cookbook.

... I really want to have a birthday party with a bounce house and inflatable giant sock-um-bobbers.

... I could (okay fine, have) just eaten chips and guacamole for dinner.

... I have a total old-man nerd crush* on Rick Steves. Yes, Rick Steves the prolific guidebook writer and NPR host. (I can't believe I just admitted this one!)

... I love blowing bubbles in milk with a straw.

... My favorite N*SYNC member was Joey Fatone.

* Old man crushes are a special breed of crushes. He is obviously WAY too old for you but you would totally try to set your mom up with him**. For example: Stabler from Law and Order SVU, Craig Ferguson, and a certain unnamed friend of mine once said she thought Al Gore was hot (she actually said a young Al Gore was hot but she's never going to live it down).

** But only if your mom is single and goes for slightly younger men.

updates updates updates!!

My oh my I certainly have been MIA lately!

Where were we last? Paris? From Paris I took a train to Frankfurt, Germany and have been in Germany and Austria for the last week and a half.

I met Chris, Allan, and Eddie in Frankfurt where we immediately got on a train and headed to Munich and Oktoberfest! The boys' friend from college, Audrey, and her sister, Jill met us in Munich. The 6 of us had an amazing time prost-ing, eating way too many sausages, and belting out the cheesiest American music playing at Oktoberfest (Achey Breaky Heart-- can you top that?)!

After 4 days in Munich Jill and Audrey returned to Spain where Audrey lives and the boys and I continued on to Salzburg, Austria. Yes, the birth place of The Von Trap Family Singers!!! While we didn't take the Sound of Music bus tour like I wanted to do I was mentally running through the SoM soundtrack in my mind the entire time. With an afternoon trip to the German Alps and a day full of bike riding we had a great time in Salzurg.

Don´t worry I´ll give you the full scoop on all the stops, including Oktoberfest, in seperate posts!
