IT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING

Chris and I have been doing little victory dances around our apartment lately because we have booked some of our tickets for our grand 18-month trip around the world!

18 MONTHS AROUND THE WORLD!!! It's actually going to happen! We actually have seats on planes!

To say that we are excited would be an understatement!

You can only book tickets 320 days in advance so as of right now we're not coming home! We'll book the remainder of our tickets once the reservations are available.

We're flying to each of the major continental areas (Africa, Middle East, Asia, India) and then will travel within those areas on busses, trains, and maybe a camel or two?

May 29th
Chicago to Johannesburg

September 1
Johannesburg to Istanbul

December 1
Amman to Bangkok

This means we will be spending the Fourth of July in South Africa, my 25th birthday and Chris' 29th birthday somewhere in the Middle East, and Christmas in South East Asia!

come home for his proposal? Because it will be on the mega-tron at the spurs game and you will want me to be there to give you your special spurs engagement jersey that is covered in rhinestones and sequins?

Or come home for the wedding? Because Chris and I will be coming home for all weddings. You know how a I love a good wedding!!

Yes, and I would like my engagement ring to be hidden in all the rhinestones and sequins and have to search for it like some kind of game where they try to catch the balls worth Kroger dollars.

Wow, that is going to be an amazing trip. Are you going to be able to blog though?!?! Someone needs to take me around the world electronically, because I'm not adventurous enough to do it myself!

Sounds like a very exciting trip! I've wanted to do something similar, following the path of one of my grandmothers who was an army nurse during WWII and stationed in Burma. They took a circuitous route to Burma in order to avoid Japanese submarines and as a result went from California to New Zealand, Australia, India, and then Burma. While in Burma she went to Nepal, then on her way home went through Iran, to Europe, then New York. I'm sure you'll have stories from your trip that will excite future generations of your family as well. Good luck!
