Do you know anything about breasts? I mean chicken breasts...

Have you ever heard that the grocery store is a great place to meet people? When I was single I was too zoned into my own shopping to notice if there was a hottie near the oranges. And let's be honest, I can be a bit catty at times. If some creep was trying to hit on me and all I wanted to do was get my damn shopping done things would not go well for him.

This real life tip from the ever helpful ehow.com makes me very nervous for some men out there:

Pick up some meat packages and look at them carefully, including reading the label. Ask one of the women near you if she can help you pick a lean cut and how you know which ones are freshest. Offer to take her to coffee because she helped you to find the best meal you have had in awhile.

I don't even know what I would do if this happened to me. I'm just imagining all kinds of tasteless meat jokes that could happen during this scenario.

When I found out that my local Whole Foods was sponsoring a singles night I was intrigued.

Music and snacks? Chris and I might have to attend. Maybe we can catch someone sneaking some kisses in the frozen foods section?

Have you ever been hit on in a grocery aisle? Or more importantly, do you hit on people in the grocery store?

I think you and Chris should go and pretend to meet there and fall in love in the canned food section.

This is actually a constant joke my husband and I have. Before living in Dallas I lived in Albuquerque and was a frequent shopper at Wild Oats (since purchased by Whole Foods... grrr...). At any rate, my single girl Wild Oats days were just littered with men hitting on my over produce. So much so that even now, we joke about the risk of married me going Central Market-ing alone. Ahhh... the single life! ;-)

As soon as I read the part about picking up a meat packages, hundreds of tasteless jokes went through my mind.....but honestly, if any guy ever did that to me I would just walk away...I'm here to be with food, not men.....and that's probably why I'm single.....haha

Ohmigosh I think I'm fully in love with this post! And a Singles Night at the grocery store...how clever! To be completely honest, I've been hit on by the bag boys at Albertson's, and the meat guys at Costco. Many of them are actually pretty cute!! :)

Maybe someone should do a study on which cities have the most guys trying to pick up women at grocery stores-- I'm thinking Albuquerque will rank high on the list since I too have been hit on at the grocery store here. At this point it seems so clichéd a pick-up line that I have a hard time believing that it would work for anyone.

i absolutely hate grocery shopping and would not want to meet anyone there. so far, i've never been hit on (well as far as i remember). i was hit on when i worked at best buy. not a grocery store but i was ringing someone up. that was awkward.
